From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
This warrior group features Teor (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could assist the group enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the remote area in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Strategists parties.
Fans can expect finding out which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
